HERETIK 2022-

muto major AKA Samm Anga and Veronica Petukhov perform HERETIK, a multi media performance combining vocals, electronics, live visuals and AI. The work draws on Nigerian storytelling traditions to suggest routes out of our increasingly dystopian present. Blurring the lines between theatre and live set, HERETIK introduces AI as a third presence on stage, prophesying the near future.

WAXEN FIGURES 2023-

Sites of historical spiritual significance in Scotland such as the Covesea Caves and the Munlochy Clootie Well inspired sound artist – and half of muto major – Samm Anga to create Waxen Figures, in which Scotland’s folkloric past interacts with the now. Against backdrops of deep green landscape, digital ghosts flare and vanish, performing dances that suggest obscure rituals of old – summonings, offerings, celebrations. Around these glimmering, slippery figures, Pictish symbols stream and the Gaelic language speaks out, sometimes boldly, sometimes in shredded tatters of a vanishing tongue, reminding us that what is past is never entirely gone.

Visuals – upscaled from a miniature monitor to large projections and manipulated live – are from Veronica Petukhov.

THE FIELD OF HERITAGE 2023 + 2024-

Hear inspiration from the past as The Field of Heritage explores the unique sonic landscape of the North Vietnam region – from sounds of the north-western mountain to local literature and culture, to traditional song and language. Cryptic and Thanh Viet Production will premiere at ‘Monsoon Music Festival 2023’ in Viet Nam.

Project funded by British Council.

The FOH was performed again at Sonica Festival, Glasgow in 2024.

TRANSMODERNA BOILER ROOM 2023

Animation of existing 3D sculptures of artist Gabriel Massan, commissioned by Dixon for Transmoderna Boiler Room set in Printworks, London.

Segment from 30:15 - 32:55

LISOVYK 2022

Responding to the Xylophobia theme through moving image and audio, Veronica Petukhov reimagines the mythological character of Lisovyk (also known in Russian as leshy or borowy, leśnik, leśniczy, lasowik, in Polish), inspired by Slavic folk tales her grandmother would tell her when she would visit her in Odesa in Ukraine. As the story goes The Lisovyk is a seldom seen forest spirit who is mostly harmless but when angered can be treacherous. Veronica reimagines this entity through a 3D environment, layering poetry over an uncanny floating forest, using augmented reality and glitchy visuals to create a hypnotic digital universe.

CRYPTIC NIGHTS 2022

Performance with EYVE and another with Kintra.

Commisioned by Cryptic, performed in CCA.

𝕺𝖗𝖆𝖈𝖔𝖑𝖔 series: 𝓜𝓪𝓼𝓬𝓱𝓮𝓻𝓪 2021

Oracolo series is a series of multimedia works created for my degree show in Contemporary Art Practice (2021). The works follow the constant research of self-acceptance and love through selfies and filters as well as the causes that a prolonged use of "filtered" selfies can cause on the human psyche, especially of the more vulnerable. L'Oracolo is a digital entity that guides you into your digital existence, the 4 elements that create l'Oracolo are: La maschera (the mask), l'ornamento (the ornament), lo specchio (the mirror) and lo schermo (the screen). Special thank you to: Joseph Morris - model   / voodoocity   Samm Anga - music and sound-design https://www.samm-anga.co.uk   / skinnysammson   Video was filmed and edited by Veronica Petukhov   / vnc.ptk   Programs used: Adobe Premiere Pro and Blender
